Vorgestern erschien der Übersetzungs-Patch von Galaxy Fräulein Yuna (Ginga Ojōsama Densetsu Yuna) in der Version 1.3.

Patch (auch die Vorgängerversionen) und Anleitung bekommt man hier:

Laut romhacking.net gibt es von Snatcher leider keine deutsche Fan-Übersetzung; von Rise of the Dragon sogar überhaupt gar keine.

Genau da hatte ich auch schon geschaut, viel mehr aktuelle Seiten kenne ich aber auch nicht. Mittlerweile ist das Netz doch sehr unübersichtlich geworden oder ich einfach alt.

Gibt nun einen Englisch Patch für das PCE-CD RPG "Far East of Eden: Ziria".

Gibt es mittlerweile auch hier schon gepatcht. Stelle mir gerade vor, wenn ich das anno 1989 schon hätte spielen können. Die Japaner waren damals sicher geflasht.

v1.1 (27 Dec 2023): Fixed a bug that could occasionally cause the game to crash when changing maps if played using a real optical drive. The problem was that one of the CD read operations added for the translation wasn't being retried on failure; this didn't cause problems on emulators and flashcards like the Turbo EverDrive, since they don't use real CD hardware and thus reads never fail, but an actual CD unit will sometimes fail a read, in which case it needs to be instructed to try again until it works. This issue is now fixed. The translation is otherwise unchanged, so the only real reason to update is if you want to play using a burned disc.

Vom englischen Übersetzungs-Patch für .hack//Link von Kazetrigger erschien die finale Version 2.0.0:

v2.0.0 – “Final” – Released December 2023

This patch contains a 100% complete story translation. All story, all side/sub-content, and a translated menu. Does not have a corrected font yet and there are some textures left untranslated, but the story is not impacted by this.

Es gab schon wieder ein Update. Allerdings macht dieses abermals nur Sinn, wenn man echte Hardware nutzt.

v1.2 (06 Jan 2024): Another real-hardware bugfix update, this time really for
real.

  Following continued reports of the game crashing when played using a real
disc, we looked into things more closely. It turned out that while the problem
fixed in the previous update was a real one, it wasn't the main cause of the
crashes. The _actual_ problem wasn't even with the translation itself, but a
bugged CD read routine in the console's BIOS that misbehaved if a read failed
and had to be retried, leaving a paging register in an unintended state. This
issue hadn't previously been documented (at least by the modern PCE dev
community), which is why it took so long to figure out. We can't fix the BIOS,
but the translation now works around the problem. Thank you very much to rg111
for invaluable help diagnosing the problem and making sure the fixed version
worked.

  One other bugfix, also only applicable to real disc hardware, has been made:
In the event of certain types of disc read failure, the game would try to load
data from the backup data track, which is not translated. This would have caused
it to "randomly" display gibberish text...but since the other bug was causing
the game to crash in the situations where this would have happened, no one ever
actually encountered this problem. In any case, the issue is fixed.
 
  Also, a few lines of code that did nothing (and were supposed to have been
commented out) have been removed from one of the translation-added routines.
This doesn't actually fix or change anything; it's just some general cleanup.
 
  As with the v1.1 update, no changes have been made to the actual content of
the translation, so if you were playing on an emulator or flashcard to begin
with, there's no real need to update.

Dungeon Master Nexus, ein Sega Saturn exklusiv Titel, ist nun auch in Englisch spielbar.

Mit einer Woche Verspätung teile ich mal den Changelog von Version 2:

• Preview of the French translation of the manual (PDF, this is a work-in-progress made by PierreM, 20 pages translated so far)

Wie ihr wahrscheinlich mitbekommen habt , wurden auf CDRomance alle Downloads komplett eingestellt / runtergenommen!!
Zum Glück kann man sich aber trotzdem jeden einzelnen Upload deren Seite noch holen.

Ich erwähne mal an dieser Stelle den deutschen Übersetzungs-Patch für die GOG-Fassung von Wing Commander IV bei CompiWare. Was halte ich hier für besonders erwähnenswert?

Das ist mein Deutschpatch mit HD Videos für die aktuelle Spiel-Version!

Die DVD-Version des Spiels erschien 1997 und zeigte die Videos ohne Interlacing in einer Auflösung von 704x480 Pixeln bei einer Bildwiederholrate von 30 Bildern pro Sekunde.

die Rede ist. Voraussetzung für den Fünf-GByte-Patch: Account bei CompiWare und Freischaltung der Uncut-Patches-Rubrik. Hier der Link:

Ausprobiert habe ich ihn nicht. Würde mich mal interessieren, ob die Videos tatsächlich in einer Auflösung von 1280 * 720 laufen.

Die Anmeldepflicht gilt nur für die Uncut-Patches, nicht für die Übersetzungs-Patches.
Ich habe mal reingeschaut: Das sind die normalen DVD-Videos in der Auflösung 704x480p29.97 (16:9 (1.78:1) Letterbox, reale Bildauflösung bei 704x360p29.97).

In Zeiten von Hochkant-Handyvideos wird manchmal der Fehler gemacht, die erste Zahl, also 704 Pixel "Höhe wenn das Handy aufrecht steht und das Videobild auf der Seite liegt", als maßgebend für die Angabe der Videoauflösung anzugeben. Warum das passiert, weiß ich aber nicht.
