It's official. Blizzard Entertainment® announced today that World of Warcraft® will hit stores on November 23, 2004 in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Select retailers may begin selling the massively multiplayer online game as early as midnight on Monday, Pacific Daylight Savings Time.
Additionally Blizzard announced that for the initial shipment only, the standard edition of World of Warcraft will be available in two unique box covers representing the major factions of the world - Alliance & Horde. A limited number of World of Warcraft Collector's Edition boxes will also be available for sale in a special, one-time only production run. Pre-order is recommended for adventurers wishing to reserve a World of Warcraft Collector's Edition.
World of Warcraft® Free Open Beta Set to Begin by November 8th
By November 8th, the fog of war will be lifted and Blizzard will invite thousands of North American gamers to take a free tour of the epic World of Warcraft. This will be the final stage of testing for the massive online world before it ships to stores in the U.S. and Canada for a November 23, 2004 Street Date.
Willing adventurers can download the World of Warcraft Open Beta by visiting https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com. The official start date of the Open Beta will be announced on http://www.worldofwarcraft.com, so stay tuned for additional information.
Players who want to get an early jump on the action can sign up for the World of Warcraft Final Stress Test which began on November 1st. Final Stress Test players will be able to carry over their characters into the Free Open Beta. There are limited spaces available for the Final Stress Test and you must be a FilePlanet member to participate. For more information on how to sign up for the World of Warcraft Final Stress Test, or on how to become a FilePlanet member, click http://www.fileplanet.com.
Spaces for both the Final Stress Test and the Free Open Beta will be given out on a first come, first served basis. So sign up early, and we hope to see you in Azeroth...

Am 26. November wird die europaweite Vorbestellungskampagne für World of Warcraft eröffnet. Da bereits für den nicht-öffentlichen Betatest 330.000 Anmeldungen eingegangen sind und beim Start des Spiels nur eine begrenzte Stückzahl verfügbar sein wird, soll Spielern die Möglichkeit geboten werden, rechtzeitig ein Exemplar vorbestellen zu können. Bei Vorbestellung bei einem der teilnehmenden Händler erhalten Spieler als Bonus eine Audio-CD mit ausgewählten Stücken des Soundtracks zu World of Warcraft sowie einen Authentifizierungsschlüssel, der den Zugang zur finalen Phase des europäischen Betatests garantiert.
